Huge thanks for “Checkout” – short episodes and lots of laughs.

Last night after watching the feature film “Howl” (see my separate post), I needed something light an short. I watched the trailer for the Israeli TV series “Checkout” and – upon seeing the episodes are short (22 minutes) I watched the first one. And boy did I laugh! It’s obviously based on the BBC (and later US) TV series “The Office” since it’s a mockumentary but instead of a factory it takes place in a Supermarket in Israel. Each character is exaggerated (the security guy is usually asleep and arrives AFTER any incident is resolved) but – based on the first episode I’m already a fan!

The show which Chaiflicks calls “Israel’s #1 Smash Hit comedy” started in 2018 and finished three seasons (one of 21 eps and two of 20 eps) . Chaiflicks is “doling” them out with one every Thursday. Right now you can binge the first 6 episodes. I hope they change their mind and release at least 3 eps each week. By my count, at the rate of ONE per week, it will be 55 weeks (that’s December 10, 2022!)

Anyway, each ep stands on its own but I think you’ll want to binge the ones up there now

I don't remember the last time I laughed so hard and consistently at a show. Every episode is perfection. Ever character is perfection.

I'm watching now. Love it, the manager reminds me of Elaine from Seinfield

The show is great. The casting is good. Let's get some new episodes...

Every character is a piece of work. Each actor deserves an award. I've binged to Season 3 episode 8 metzuyan and yotzay min ha kelal

Just as Seinfeld is a "show about nothing." Checkout is "a show about chutzpah." Professor Titinsky is the best example but the butchers and Kochava are so chutzpadik. I hope that someday there will be more than three seasons.

I loved Checkout.
Wasn't one the steady customers at the market Assi Cohen from "Significant Other"....I think his name was Franco or something like that.

Checkout does a nice job of depicting some aspects of secular, or relatively secular, Israeli society, in addition to being funny, unlike "Significant Other," which is anything but funny.

We LOVE this show...It's hilarious. When will the 4th season be available to watch? I know it's out now, but can't find it.
