In 1944, 16-year-old Femma Swaalep ended up in extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. The man responsible for the deportation of this half-Jewish girl was the German racial specialist Hans Calmeyer. Miraculously Femma survives the horrors, but recently the now 92-year-old is plagued by the knowledge that her tormentor is revered as a hero at home and abroad.
