Decades after graduating college, a middle-aged man, David Masello, essayist and editor, reunites with his roommate’s—and sometimes his—love interest. Over dinner, he and she reminisce about the good old days and the secrets of their unusual love triangle. He recalls his mother’s relationship advice when she discovered some of his private correspondence recounting secret exploits … with boys: He should “ravish” a nice Jewish girl. At dinner’s end, he ponders whether now is the time to follow Mom’s advice. Should he rekindle the old spark that still smolders in middle age?
